Who are we and what do we do???

Hi,


The Conway Recreation Committee brings many fun activites to the town of Conway, all year long.

We hold Community Day on the first Saturday in August, complete with music, food and of course fire works.

We hold parties for the kids at the fire hall for Easter, Halloween and Christmas.

We hold a dance party on the street downtown in the summer.

We host a Community Yard Sale in the summer.

We assist Santa in getting a ride around town on the fire truck greeting all residents big and small with a smile and a treat.

We havemovie nights in the summer one Friday a month from June thru September.

We also hold some meals for community fellowship and to help us raise funds for all of our events.  We have a Super Hero and Princess brunch and a spaghetti dinner.

In 2015 we went Christmas caroling around a small part of Conway.

We are always looking for new volunteers to bring us fresh ideas for events.  No amount of time is too small, we will take volunteers who are available one hour a day, or one hour a year...


We also hold two large fundraisers each year, a Super Bingo in the late winter/ early spring and a Night At The Races in the late fall.  We would love for you to come to these events and support us.  We are a non-profit 501c3 organization and therefor must raise all of our funds to put on these events.

Dear Business Owner or Comminity Member,

We are so excited to introduce our new Conway Recreation Committee. We are now a 501© (3)! This will make way for many exciting new changes that will help us bring our community together.

Annual events have already been planned such as, the Easter, Halloween and Christmas parties for the children of Conway. Also each year, the Conway Recreation Committee hosts the Conway Community Day which is considered by many as family reunion time. This year our event is scheduled for August 6, 2016, starting at noon and ending with a fabulous fireworks display. Our day is a busy one, jam-packed with fun, rides, delicious food from our local vendors, a Conway historical display, music and laughter. Again, the Conway Recreation Committee depends on donations and fundraisers to pay for these events.

We would be honored and very appreciative of any monetary donation given to our Conway Recreation Committee. We will add your name to our display as a Conway Recreation Committee contributor at each of our wonderful events.

Conway Recreation Committe By-Laws

Conway Recreation CommitteeArticle 1

Name

1.01 Name

The incorporated name of the Organization shall be “Conway Recreation Committee.” This name can be commonly abbreviated to “CRC” or committee.

 

Article 2

Objective

2.01 Purpose

Conway Recreation Committee is a non-profit organization and shall be operated exclusively to bring the Conway community together through recreational activities within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code.

We provide recreation activities by hosting yearly events to bring the community out in a social setting.

 

Article 3

Events

 

3.01 Programs

The programs the CRC will include, but are not limited to Conway Community Day, Children’s Halloween Party, Children’s Christmas Party, and Children’s Easter Party. The CRC have the right and are encouraged to add events to the year that all ages in the community would enjoy.

To maximize our impact on current efforts, we may seek to collaborate with other organizations, including but not limited to the Conway Council and Conway Volunteer Fire Department.

 

 

Article 4

Structure of CRC

 

4.01 Members

The committee shall have no member limit. There will be no term for the members. The CRC will always make efforts to recruit new members. The members will vote on the officers of the CRC. In order to vote, you must attend at least 6 meetings in a 12 month period, and be a member in good standing with at least 2 volunteer hours in the past year.

It shall be the duty of each member of the Committee to take an active part in the direction of the Committee’s activates and to act in whatever capacity he or she may be called and to be loyal in thought and deed to the welfare of the recreation and the community which it seeks to serve. All members shall serve without remuneration. Any member is privileged to make at any time an inspection of recreation functions and equipment and bring a report to the committee officers.

 

4.02 Composition of officers

The business of CRC shall be managed by officers. The position of the officers will be one president, one vice president, one secretary and one treasurer.

 

In order to run, you must attend at least 9 meetings in a 12 month period and be a member in good standing with at least 4volunteer hours in the past.

 

4.03 Sub-committee chairs

Other sub-committee chairs may be elected by the board, Ex.: Social Media Chair, Fundraising Chair, Community Outreach Chair etc.

 

4.04 Term

The officers will hold a term of two years. The term will be from January 1 to December 31.

Article 5

Voting

 

 

5.01 Voting

The CRC members will vote at the regular meeting scheduled for the second Wednesday of December for the officers of the upcoming year.

 

5.02

On committee business all shall vote. Majority vote is needed to pass. If tie in voting president will be the tie breaker.

 

 

 

Article 6

Officer Duties

 

6.01 – President

The president shall preside at all the meetings of the CRC, appointed all committees, represent the Committee at public affairs and shall maintain the dignity and efficiency of the Committee in all possible ways in a positive manor.

 

6.02 Vice President

The Vice President shall take over the duties of the president if the president is not available. The VP shall assist the president with any duties.

 

6.03 Treasurer

The treasurer shall keep control of the financial matters of the CRC. This includes being one of the two signers on the checking account, maintaining the checking account, and keeping a ledger with copies of receipts.

 

6.04 Secretary

The Secretary shall keep a record of the proceedings of the committee. He or she shall read all the official communications to the committee, write correspondence as directed and keep on file all important letters and replies.

 

6.05 Responsibility to the Committee

If an officer fails to physically attend three consecutive meetings or five meetings in one calendar year, fails to fulfill their responsibilities, or violates these bylaws, the CRC may vote to replace the officer.

All officers will be signers on the committee checking account.

 

 

 

Article 7

Meetings

 

7.01 – General meetings

Regular general meetings shall be held the second Wednesday of every month in a determined location. All members and officers shall attend. The meetings are open to the public. Date can be changed at prior meeting

 

7.02 Special Meetings.

Special meetings of the Committee may be called at any time by the president or the vice-president, in the president’s absence, with 72 hours advance notice to the public and to members.

 

 

Article 8

Amendment of bylaws

 

8.01

These bylaws may be amended at any regular or special meeting by a majority vote of those present and voting, provided that notice of the proposed amendment has been given, in writing, to all committee members at least seven days prior to said meeting.
